The megajoules and the carbon come off the same utility bills accounts payable already receives. The meter reading is a field on the bill and the conversion factor sits on the account, so the footprint is arithmetic rather than somebody reading gas bills line by line at the end of the year.

What has to be captured, and what it is measured against
Everything below comes off the same bills accounts payable already enters, so capturing it is not a second piece of work. The thresholds are the ones in the National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting Act.

What customers ask for
The requests that actually arrive are for a figure per tonne of product, from customers who report under their own obligation. That is a product number, not a site number, and it needs the batch behind it.
Factors are the National Greenhouse Accounts figures: Victorian grid electricity at 0.79 kg CO₂e per kWh, natural gas at 51.53 kg per gigajoule, LPG at 1.55 kg per litre and diesel at 2.7 kg per litre. Change a factor on the account and every month restates, including the ones already reported, which is what makes a restatement a change of one number rather than a year of spreadsheets.
