Shipments
Clearing a shipment moves the goods out of 1340 into 1310 and absorbs every landed-cost line into the unit cost, so the cost you issue against is the cost you actually paid.

How the in-transit stock point works
Some suppliers will not release the bill of lading until the invoice is settled in full: Kisuma, Baerlocher, Kaneka, and the Chinese mills on cash terms. Those goods are receipted into 1340 Goods in Transit the day the payment goes out, so the balance sheet carries the asset from the moment it is paid for rather than the day it appears on the dock.
On arrival, clearing the shipment transfers the goods into 1310 Raw Materials and apportions the freight, insurance, duty, brokerage, cartage, fumigation and wharfage across every line by value. The weighted average cost of the material moves with it, and so does the standard cost of everything the formulation file makes from it.
